I read "Nop' s Trials" first and was impressed by how well the author told the story of a stolen and abused stockdog whose loving owner refused to quit searching for him. Given my love of that book, I expected "Nop' s Hope" to be a good read; I wasn't disappointed.

This story paints a picture of the trust and communication between a stockdog and it's handler while also exploring the grieving process of a family who has lost loved ones.

Is this a story about dogs and the dog fancy? Yes. Is this a story about loss and grief and pain? Yes. Is this a story about the loss and redemption of hope and faith? Yes. Is this a marvelously written story? Absolutely.

Enjoyed
I've heard of a dog whisperer, have a horse whisperer for my wild and wonderful Arab. But I never realized until a collie came to me that dogs are the ones doing the whispering.
Another most enjoyable book by Donald McCaig.
It is not as good a story as "Nop's Trials", that is McCaig's best book, and truly one of the best dog stories ever written!
Trying to top, or even equal that effort, has to be a daunting task.
I have all of Donald McCaig's books that are related to Border Collies, and I can honestly say that I've enjoyed all of them.
I'd most likely, rate "Nop's Hope" higher, had I not read "Nop's Trials" first; which it is my favorite.
Follow on to Nop the sheep herding dog. I didn't like this as much as the first Nop book, but it held my interest. More emphasis on technical winnings than the characters.
Quirky story with great insight on the dogs. Sometimes I wanted to slap the heroine, but the author did a good job of showing the different ways people deal with pain and grief. A worthwhile read.
This is book two of the Nop series. I read Nop's Trials first and immediately sought out this book. I wish there were more. These books are two of the keepers on my book shelf. You can read them again and again and still love them. They are little gems, warm and wonderful.
